J.R. Stone joined the KRON 4 News Team as a reporter in March of 2011.
Stone comes to San Francisco from the CBS affiliate in Orlando, Florida where he spent his days sleeping and his overnights working. As the go to reporter on the morning show Stone covered the Casey Anthony case extensively. When Caylee’s body was found J.R. was live for 14 hours straight. When George Anthony contemplated suicide Stone was live outside Anthony’s hotel room for 9 hours.
While in Orlando J.R. went live for the CBS Early Show as he broke new details about Tiger Woods and his off the course activities. He was also live for the CBS Early Show when temperatures dropped and fruit began to freeze. When Tilikum the killer whale killed a trainer at SeaWorld Stone was live for CNN International. When the clouds rolled in and Tropical Storm Faye hit J.R. was live in Daytona Beach battling the 60 mile per hour winds.
Before Orlando J.R. was a reporter at the FOX affiliate in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He went live for CNN covering record breaking floods and live for The Weather Channel after he found tornado damage just outside of Tulsa.
Stone broke into “the biz” at the NBC/FOX affiliate in El Dorado, Arkansas. He was the first to interview family members of missing teen Natalee Halloway and first on the scene when a Hazardous Waste Incineration Plant blew up and put thousands in harms way.
While he loves being on the big story J.R. is a sports junkie. He was a 3rd string sports anchor in Orlando, flew out to L.A. to cover the Magic in the finals, and spent a week reporting at the Super Bowl in Miami. He was born in Jersey and grew up in Chicago. J.R. spends his Saturdays watching Michigan football and his Sundays cheering on the Chicago Bears.
