SAN JOSE (KRON) -- It's a day of cleanup for merchants at a San Jose strip mall where a two alarm fire Thursday morning caused damage but no injuries.

The fire broke out at about 4:50 a.m. at the Capitol Commercial Center at 175 S. Capitol Avenue.  Investigators say it appears the flames began in a restaurant and then threatened to spread through a common attic.

The fire then caused the sprinkler system to go off.  That water arced some electrical lines firefighters tell KRON 4's Jackie Sissel causing damage in two other businesses.

The firefighting efforts forced the closure of Capitol Avenue for several hours.  No one was hurt.  The exact cause of the fire remains unclear.
