The Public's Help is Sought in Identity of Murdered Homeless Woman in San Jose

SAN JOSE (BCN)--The Santa Clara County medical examiner-coroner's office is seeking the assistance of the public to help identify a woman who was fatally stabbed in San Jose on Aug. 13, police said.

The 60-year-old woman, who went by the name of Gail was found on a sidewalk near the corner of West San Carlos Street and Meridian Avenue shortly after 6:31 p.m.

Police believe the woman's last name may be Hayden. The victim did not have a California's driver's license and had never been arrested, police said.

She was suffering from at least one stab wound when police arrived. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have not yet determined the motive or circumstances of the stabbing.

The woman killed in the stabbing is believed to have been homeless and formerly from New York, police said.

If anyone knows the woman's last name or has additional
information that can lead to her identification to contact local authorities.
