CONCORD, Calif. (AP) - A 17-year-old boy has pleaded guilty to felony vehicular manslaughter for running over and killing a father and his 9-year-old daughter out on a bicycle ride in Concord.
A Contra Costa County Judge on Wednesday accepted the teen's plea and then ordered him to be immediately taken to the Juvenile Hall citing he was a danger to society.
Prosecutors say the teen could face a maximum sentence of seven years and eight months in prison, but he can only be held until his 21st birthday because he will be convicted as a minor.
The teen admitted to driving his Cadillac Escalade at a high speed when he hit 41-year-old Solaiman Nuri and his 9-year-old daughter, Hadessa as they were riding on a sidewalk in April.
Solaiman Nuri's wife, Stoorai, said after the hearing that all she wanted was justice for her family.
