SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- A child playing on a Hayes Valley playground is expected to be okay after debris from a crash at the end of a high speed chase flew over a fence and struck her.
The incident began Wednesday afternoon in Pacific Heights where a robber accosted a woman who had an iPad in a backpack and stole it from her. Witnesses say he jumped into a silver Mercedes SUV and sped off.
"Numerous witnesses called with descriptions of the car and the suspects," San Francisco Police Captain Ann Mannix tells KRON 4's Reggie Kumar. "Officers were able to locate the car on Steiner Street and chased it all the way down here to where it crashed."
The SUV crashed into several parked cars. Two of the three suspected robbers inside the van were hurt. All three were arrested. One other innocent bystander along with the child suffered minor injuries.
It's unclear if the suspected robbers were armed.
