SAN JOSE (BCN) -- Police are continuing to investigate the death of a teenager who was found fatally shot near a crashed car in San Jose on Tuesday afternoon.
Officers responded to a report of a traffic collision in the 1500 block of Fairhaven Drive at about 3:20 p.m., Officer Albert Morales said.
When they arrived, they found that a car had crashed into a tree. An 18-year-old man was lying on the ground several feet from the car, Morales said.
The teen had been shot, and was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not yet been released.
Morales said police believe the teen was driving the car when it crashed, but that the circumstances of the shooting remain under investigation.
The homicide is the city's 44th of the year.
No arrests have been made in the case, Morales said.
