(KRON) -- Security patrols will be increased in an East Bay Regional park after a woman has reported being raped along one of the trails, police said.
The alleged rape occurred on Wednesday along the Madrone Trail, accessible from Bollinger Canyon Road from the west and Camille Ave. from the east between Danville and Alamo, said Detective Bermudez of the East Bay Regional Park Police.
The woman was hiking at 3:30 p.m. when she passed a man with a dog coming from the opposite direction. The unidentified victim said the man grabbed her hair from behind, knocked her to the ground, pinned her down and assaulted her.
The suspect is describe as a white man in his early forties with short light brown hair, clean-shaven, with a pointed nose and light olive complexion. He was of medium build, about 5 foot 10 and weighing about 180 pounds.
He was wearing a tan and cream button up shirt, blue jeans and dark colored tennis shoes. He had a silver watch on his left wrist.
The dog was described as heavy set, medium-sized brown and white with one ear up and the other down.
Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Bermudez at 510-690-6562 or to contact local authorities.
