PITTSBURG (BCN) -- A driver is in custody after he allegedly struck a woman and two small children, injuring all three, then fled the scene, police said.
The woman and the two children received non-life threatening injuries, according to Pittsburg police Lt. Ron Raman. The children, ages 7 and 1, were treated and released Monday night; the woman, 29, will likely be released from a hospital by Tuesday morning, he added.
The woman and the children were crossing Crestview Drive while walking west on the Delta de Anza Regional Trail around 5:45 p.m. when they were hit, Raman said. The 7-year-old girl was riding a bicycle, while the 1-year-old boy was in a stroller.
Noe Delgado, 24, of Pittsburg, was arrested less than an hour after the incident, Raman said. Witnesses to the collision helped police track down the car he was driving when he struck the pedestrians.
Delgado didn't show any obvious signs of intoxication, Raman said, but the investigation is continuing. He is being held on $50,000 bail at County Jail in Martinez on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.
