SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- A San Francisco Muni driver caught texting in a YouTube video is now out of a job.

The driver, whose name remains unknown, was formally terminated Friday after a hearing with an SFMTA disciplinary board.

A passenger posted the video of the female driver apparently using her cell phone to send text messages while driving on the 24-Divisidero line.  Muni officials say they suspended the driver in anticipation of letting her go.

Instead passengers say the supposedly suspended driver was back on the same route this week.  Officials at first denied she was back on the job and then said they were trying to figure out how she managed to return to work.

Now that she's been terminated, the Muni driver's union says it's launching its own investigation.  The union is considering filing a grievance against Muni on the driver's behalf.

KRON 4's Terisa Estacio spoke with riders on the 24-Divisidero Friday, many of whom said it's normally an uneventful commute.
