ROHNERT PARK (BCN) -- A 26-year-old Windsor man was arrested after allegedly attempting to stab a man after an argument at a Rohnert Park motel Thursday night, according to the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety.
Jeff Nunes was arrested after Rohnert Park public safety officers responded at about 10:35 p.m. to reports of a disturbance at a local motel.
Arriving officers found a man holding a pistol in the motel parking lot, and disarmed and detained him. The officers learned that the man was the victim of an attempted stabbing and had retrieved his handgun from his room to try to detain Nunes, who had fled on foot.
Officers found Nunes in a field across from the motel and arrested him.
The incident started when the men, who were staying in separate rooms at the motel, got into an argument on a walkway and Nunes punched the victim and tried to stab him with a knife, according to the Department of Public Safety.
The victim returned to his room and retrieved his pistol and confronted Nunes in the parking lot while yelling at onlookers to call the police.
Nunes was booked into Sonoma County Jail for battery, assault with a deadly weapon, brandishing a knife, and obstructing an officer, according to the Department of Public Safety.
