ALAMEDA COUNTY (BCN) -- The Alameda County Sheriff's Office is planning on releasing video footage of cars connected to a shooting on Interstate Highway 580 in February.
Sheriff Gregory Ahern will hold a news conference Friday to release the footage of the cars, which investigators believe may have been involved in a shooting on Highway 580 in San Leandro early on the morning of Feb. 21.
One bullet hit westbound motorist Marcus Cruz in the left eye, and another hit sheriff's Deputy Brenton Cantrell in the leg as he conducted a pedestrian stop near 16500 Foothill Blvd.
Cruz had his eye removed, and Cantrell continues to suffer from complications.
A sheriff's sergeant said at the time that the shots were fired during a confrontation between the occupants of two speeding cars around 12:45 a.m., and that a bullet also struck a home on a nearby hillside. No one at the home was injured.
Sheriff's investigators on Friday will ask for the public's help in tracking down the suspects.
