DUBLIN (KRON) – Officials with Bay Area Rapid Transit say they’ve restored service to the Dublin/Pleasanton line after a train hit a construction worker Thursday afternoon.
The accident happened around 3 p.m. at the West Dublin Station, which is under construction.
BART spokesperson Linton Johnson says the train, traveling about 35 mph, struck the worker who was propelled above the train tracks in a self-navigated bucket.
The worker sustained serious injures and was transported to a local hospital. The extent to his injuries is unknown.
Johnston says about 75 passengers were on the train when it hit the man.
There were no reports of injuries. Riders were evacuated and taken to the Dublin/Pleasanton station.
According to transit spokesperson Jim Allison, the train that hit the worker will be towed to the Hayward station.
Trains between the Castro Valley and Dublin/Pleasanton stations stopped running from the time of the accident to about 4:45 p.m.
