EAST PALO ALTO (BCN) -- A 22-year-old man was critically injured Tuesday night when he was shot several times while sitting in a parked car in East Palo Alto, police said.
Officers responded to 911 calls reporting a shooting in the 2100 block of Ralmar Avenue at about 10:40 p.m. Police were also alerted to the shooting by the city's ShotSpotter gunshot detection system.
They found the victim slumped over in the front seat of the car suffering from several bullet wounds to his upper body, police said. The victim was in critical condition this morning.
Investigators believe the victim was sitting in the car waiting for a friend when the shooter approached the passenger window and opened fire.
Witnesses saw a small or midsize sedan leaving the area after the shooting, but police do not yet have a description of the suspect.
