Created by Kimberlee Sakamoto on 10/22/2009 6:34:00 PM

MORGAN HILL (BCN) -- The California Highway Patrol is investigating the death of a  person whose body was found in the brushes off of the East San Martin Avenue  off-ramp from U.S. Highway 101 just south of Morgan Hill Thursday afternoon.

A Caltrans worker noticed a decomposed adult body near a Suzuki  motorcycle on the side of the off-ramp and reported the incident to the CHP  just before noon, CHP Officer Jaime Rios said.

The body showed signs of injury, however authorities were not able  to immediately determine what had caused the injuries.

Rios said it appeared as though the body had been there for nearly  a month and had been decomposed.

The Suzuki was reported stolen in 2005, Rios said.

The CHP is investigating the death as a collision, although  authorities have not yet determined if the person died in a crash. They are  also inspecting the motorcycle for evidence, Rios said.

The off-ramp was closed for about four hours Thursday afternoon  following the crash, but was reopened at about 5 p.m.
