SAN JOSE (BCN) -- The Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office is seeking the public's assistance in gathering more information about a man arrested in early October for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman in San Jose.
On Oct. 2, a woman was driving in the area of Lundy Avenue and Berryessa Road at about 11 p.m. when a man walked against a red light and in front of her car with his bicycle, according to the district attorney's office.
The woman struck him with her vehicle, but shortly thereafter, he lured her away from the crash scene and sexually assaulted her, according to the district attorney's office.
Investigators believe one or more people may have witnessed what appears to be a staged crash. One of the witnesses fled the scene after the suspect told her to leave.
The suspect was arrested a short time later and remains in custody.
There's a possibility it may not have been the first time he committed or attempted this offense, according to the district attorney's office, which did not release the suspect's name.
Anyone who may have witnessed this incident or was a victim of this suspect is encouraged to call Investigator Nate Wandruff at (408) 792-2713.
