OAKLAND (KRON) - Oakland police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that left one man dead Sunday evening.
Around 6:17 p.m., the Oakland Fire Department responded to the 900 block of 40th St. at Market St. to reports of a man down in the street.
When crews arrived, they found the man was armed with a gun and requested police backup.
Authorities say four officers responded to the scene.
Police began giving the armed man verbal commands, but he refused to comply, according to Oakland PD.
That's when police shot the man. He was given medical attention at the scene, but died of his injuries.

KRON4's Lydia Pantazes talked to people who live in the area.
Some of them are upset and say the police didn’t give the man enough time to put down his his weapon.
Police say officers recovered a gun from the scene.
The Oakland Police Department Criminal Investigation Division along with the Oakland Police Department Internal Affairs Division is investigating this incident.
The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office is conducting a separate investigation.
