Police: Santa Rosa man sexually assaulted two girls

SANTA ROSA (KRON) - Santa Rosa police have arrested a man accused of sexually assaulting two girls, police said.

On Feb. 13, police say they got a report that Javier Luna Gines, of Santa Rosa, sexually assaulted a woman eight years ago when she was under 18 years old. Police say Gines, a male acquaintance, sexually assaulted her multiple times.

Gines was arrested on Feb. 16, but was released a few days later due to lack of evidence, authorities said.

About a week later, another family told police their young daughter was sexually assaulted by Gines about five years ago.

On Tuesday, police again arrested Gines at the police station.

He was booked into the county jail with no bail on the following charges:

  • Felony 288.7(b) PC/Sex Act with Child 10 Years or Younger/2 counts
  • Felony 288(a) PC/Lewd and Lascivious Act with Child Under 14

Detectives found Gines had access to multiple children through family members, friends, and volunteer work.

If you have any information, you are asked to call police at (707)-543-4040.
