Audio, video released from deadly officer-involved shooting in Sacramento

SACRAMENTO (KRON)-- - The Sacramento Police Department has released video and audio from an officer-involved shooting that left a 23-year-old man dead Sunday night.  

Authorities say around 9:13 p.m. police were responding to reports of a man breaking into vehicles in 7500 block of 29th Street. 

Officers said the caller stated that the man had broken car windows and was now hiding in a backyard.

The caller told police, the subject was was a man wearing a black hoodie and dark pants. 

Two arriving officers chased 23-year-old Stephan Clark into the backyard of his grandparents' home, where he was staying. The department says they opened fire when he pointed what they thought was a handgun.

No gun was found.

Clark's grandmother, Sequita Thomas, questioned the officers' decision to fire at Clark while he was in his own backyard. She told The Sacramento Bee, "they didn't have to do that."
