Car fire, accident, causing hour-long delays on Bay Bridge

BAY BRIDGE (KRON) -- A white van caught fire on the shoulder of the Bay Bridge Wednesday morning, stalling an already backed-up commute.

According to officials, delays for crossing the Bay Bridge are over an hour.

The California Highway Patrol this morning is reporting an earlier crash on the westbound lanes of Interstate Highway 80 on the Bay Bridge near Treasure Island has been cleared.

A Sig-alert issued this morning has been canceled.

The crash involved at least three vehicles and closed three westbound lanes near the Treasure Island on-ramp, according to the CHP.

The crash was cleared at 6:30 a.m. The crash was first reported at 5:34 a.m.

Long lines are still clogging the Toll plaza entrance and commuters are advised to reroute to other bridges, or take BART.
