Report: Colin Kaepernick has never registered to vote

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick has never registered to vote in any election, according to the Sacramento Bee.

Kaepernick has been facing backlash for not voting in the most recent presidential election despite his protest during the National Anthem.

It turns out that this election isn't the only one he decided to skip.

The quarterback turned 18 in 2005 but has never registered to vote in California, according to records maintained by the California Secretary of State. He also never registered in Nevada while he was attending the University of Nevada, Reno, from 2006 to 2010.

That means he missed presidential elections in 2008 and 2012, when Democrat Barack Obama was elected president, according to the Sacramento Bee.

Kaepernick, who grew up in Turlock, began refusing to stand for the National Anthem earlier this year to protest racial inequality.

Kaepernick told reported that he did not vote in the most recent election because he felt "it would be hypocritical" of him.
