Sanaz Tahernia is a reporter/anchor for KRON 4 News.
She grew up in Palos Verdes in Southern California, and before changing careers and getting into broadcast journalism, she practiced law in Los Angeles.
She graduated Cum Laude from UCLA with her bachelor’s degree in Sociology before attending Southwestern Law School. After receiving her Juris Doctor degree and passing the California State Bar exam, Sanaz started her career as a civil litigator. She started out in government liability defense, defending the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in cases involving, among other things, claims of civil rights violations. Sanaz then went on to practice business litigation, representing private clients on both sides – plaintiffs and defendants. She no longer practices law, however she keeps her license active.
After several years of litigating she decided to pursue her passion for broadcast journalism and enrolled at Boston University College of Communication. She completed the program in December 2016 and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Master of Science in Journalism.
After graduating, Sanaz moved to Bangor, Maine where she worked as a multimedia journalist for WLBZ’s statewide newscast, NewsCenter Maine. Wanting to move closer to home, Sanaz then joined KRNV and KRXI in Reno, Nevada as the stations’ morning reporter.
Sanaz joined KRON 4 News in October 2018, and not only is she extremely happy to be back in California, but she has fallen in love with San Francisco.
During her free time, Sanaz enjoys brunching, boxing and spinning. And she really enjoys the arts, so you may run into her at the museum or the ballet. You’ll likely see her around, so if you do, make sure to say hello!
