Gary Radnich

Since joining KRON 4 in 1985, Gary Radnich’s unique off-the-cuff style has developed into the standard by which TV and radio sportscasts are often judged.  He has been honored three times by the Associated Press for Best Sportscast in California, and his weekday KNBR Radio show has been top-rated since its 1992 debut.

Radnich brings Bay Area sports fans more than just the scores on KRON 4 News at 6, 8, and 11 p.m.  Every Friday Gary is joined by his wife Alicia to answer viewer email and questions.  Gary also provides his unique perspective on topics outside of sports on the featured segment The World According to Gary.

Before joining KRON 4, Radnich was sports director at WBNS-TV in Columbus, Ohio, where he helped the station develop the highest-rated local newscast in the market.  He also called play-by-play for Buckeye football broadcasts with legendary OhioState coach Woody Hayes.

Prior to working at WBNS, Radnich was sportscaster at KTXL-TV in Sacramento.  He got his start in broadcasting at Las Vegas station KVVU-TV before moving back to the Bay Area to call Fresno State football and basketball play-by-play with the Oakland A’s Monty Moore for KMPH-TV.

Radnich grew up in San Jose, where he became an All-American basketball player at Branham High School.  He continued his career at both Brigham Young University and the University of Nevada at Las Vegas

“The biggest name in Bay Area broadcasting, sports or otherwise.”
