SAN FRANCISCO (KRON)–Two people were transported to a San Francisco hospital after being struck by wind-driven debris at a construction site.

According to the San Francisco Fire Department, the incident happened in the area of 23rd St & San Jose Avenue.

An elderly man and one other person suffered cuts and concussions after strong winds sent a fence crashing down.

KRON4’s Hermela Aregawi spoke to witnesses who said the construction in the area has been going on for nearly two years. Some residents are frustrated with the clutter and materials taking up parking spaces.

One resident, Sarah Sitts said, “the fence has been up for quite a while and it’s almost become a permanent fixture in the neighborhood.”

California’s state Department of Occupational Safety is currently investigating the incident.
