'Armed and dangerous' man wanted in Concord murder

CONCORD (KRON) - An "armed and dangerous man" is wanted in the murder of a 64-year-old man in Concord.

Police say 55-year-old Terrance Dixon murdered 64-year-old Michael Downie.

"I have seen him around, yes, just walking his dog or just sweeping outside his house," said one neighbor, who did not want to reveal his or her name. "A very friendly--didn't seem much of a threat. Just your average guy."

People who live on Pine Creek Way in Concord were hesitant to show their faces on-camera because Downie's alleged killer is still out there.

Downie was found dead in his home a week ago after his friend's discovered his body during a welfare check.

Concord police have named Dixon as the lone suspect.

There's a warrant out for his arrest.

"We are considering him armed and dangerous, and we're asking the community that if you know where he is, or you see him to not approach him, and contact law enforcement immediately," Concord police Cpl. Summer Galer said.

Police say Dixon has not only had prior run-ins with law enforcement here in California but also in Washington and Nevada.

And right now, he can be anywhere.

"Through this investigation, we have learned that the victim and suspect have known each other for quite some time," Galer said.

Galer says investigators believe Dixon is driving the victim Downie's car.

A blue 2013 Hyundai Veloster with license plate number 6ZHZ052.

"I hope he just gets caught and brought to justice," the neighbor said.

Galer says a motive behind the murder is unclear.
