Jackknifed big rig on Bay Bridge causes traffic gridlock in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) - A jackknifed big rig on the lower deck of the Bay Bridge is causing a traffic nightmare for commuters Wednesday. 

The crash happened at around noon in the eastbound lanes of the Bay Bridge just east of the 1st Street on-ramp. 

CHP closed three left lanes as tow trucks were headed to the scene. 

Traffic is at a completed standstill trying to get onto the Bay Bridge in San Francisco. 

Drivers should use alterative routes and avoid using the lower deck of the Bay Bridge.
