SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Ninety-three-year-old Vivian Childress — battered and bruised while laying in her hospital bed.
For three days she’s been bed-ridden and force fed through syringes after a man brutally attacks her.
“She can’t do anything it’s like she’s so helpless and she tries to get out of bed and she’s so used to being independent but she can’t,” said Kendall Heinz, the woman’s granddaughter.
Heinz says her grandmother was walking near her Ingleside home Sunday afternoon when the attack occurred. She stopped to take a rest on a doorstep at the corner of Majestic Avenue and Lakeview Avenue, when a man walked up to her and punched her in the face.
“She’s just so like innocent you know what I mean. You would want to help her not attack her,” Heinz said.
Heinz says her grandmother’s jaw was broken in two spots and she also suffered other severe head injuries.
“I hate seeing that she’s hurt. It’s like I can’t do anything I feel like I wish it was me instead of her,” said Heinz.
Before the attack, Heinz says she was driving up to where her grandmother was and noticed a man walking erratically along the street.
She described the man as Hispanic wearing a gray hoodie and black sweatpants.
He quickly struck her grandmother and ran off without taking anything. Now her family is calling on the police for help.
“Just please find him. If you have any information, please let us know so they can catch him and get him off these streets because it’s not safe,” Heinz said.
The family has started a GoFundMe for their medical expenses. Find it here.
