SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) – BART trains systemwide were delayed 20 minutes this morning, the agency stated, due to weather, an equipment problem near Daly City, and police activity near Lake Merritt.
BART subsequently reached out to KRON4 to clarify that the agency sometimes speaks in absolutes but that not every train was delayed 20 minutes.
“Systemwide delays doesn’t mean all trains are delayed 20 minutes, it means at lease one train on each of our lines is delayed around 20 minutes,” stated Alicia Trost, the chief communications officer for BART. “When this advisory went out, we had 59 trains in service and 23 of them were perfectly on time. The others had delays ranging from 5-25 minutes.”
As of around 9:30 a.m. Friday, 33 of 55 trains are on time. There are some delayed trains on the Green, Orange and Blue lines.
“The most important thing is that the situation is over with and the delay impacts are mainly for those already on a train,” Trost stated.
