Family in pedicab struck in hit and run near SF's Pier 29

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) - Five people were injured, including two young kids, when a car crashed into pedicabs Wednesday near San Francisco's Pier 29. 

The crash happened at around 4:15 p.m. on The Embarcadero at Sansome Street, according to San Francisco Fire. 

A family of four was riding in two pedicabs when a car struck them and fled the scene. 

The pedicab driver was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. 

The family of four -- including two children ages 5 and 8 -- were all taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect vehicle is described as a light-colored sedan.

It was last seen headed towards the Bay Bridge. 

This is an active and ongoing investigation.
