Several record breakers and newsmakers graced this year’s edition of Time’s 100 Most Influential People issue.
It’s a mix of entertainers, athletes, business leaders, politicians, and media personalities.
The 2019 magazine cover features singer Taylor Swift, actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, actress Sandra Oh, CBS News anchor Gayle King, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and Egyptian soccer star Mohamed Salah.
The list is split into 5 different categories: pioneers, leaders, artists, icons, and titans.
Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, the Palo Alto woman who came forward accusing then-Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault back in the 1980s, was honored by California Senator and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris.
Harris called Dr. Ford an “icon,” saying Ford’s story “shook Washington and the country.”
“Her courage, in the face of those who wished to silence her, galvanized Americans. And her unfathomable sacrifice, out of a sense of civic duty, shined a spotlight on the way we treat survivors of sexual violence,” Harris wrote.
On the other hand, Brett Kavanaugh was also on the list, honored by Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell.
