FREMONT, Calif. (KRON) — The Fremont Police Department responded to what it described as a “critical incident” on Thursday evening. FPD later confirmed that a person was killed in an altercation.

FPD was called about the incident at 4:10 p.m. by a passerby. The citizen reported observing an altercation between two men.

Officers responded and found a man lying on the ground with “severe injuries.” He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police activity is to be expected in the area throughout Thursday night. A suspect was arrested, and there is no danger to the public, police said.

There is a bus stop located at the address of the homicide. The incident occurred just northwest of Lake Elizabeth.
