East Bay school mourns teen who drowned in campus pool

Bay Area

An East Bay community is mourning the loss of a teenage boy who drowned in their school’s pool.

It happened Tuesday afternoon at San Ramon Valley High School in Danville.

Students and staff found the 15-year-old student underwater in the deep end of the pool.

Several students and teachers jumped in the water and tried to save him.

He was rushed to the hospital, but unfortunately did not survive.

Students tell KRON4 they could not believe their classmate is gone.

“It’s just hard knowing he’s there one second, and now he’s not,” one student said. “He was a good student and I think he was a great person.”

Students came to leave flowers at a growing memorial on campus.

The principal says they will have grief counselors at the high school today for students and staff.
