Firefighters battle house, vegetation fire in Los Gatos

LOS GATOS (KRON) - Firefighters battled a house and vegetation fire in the hills above unincorporated Los Gatos on Saturday morning, according to the Santa Clara County Fire Department.

The blaze broke out around 7 a.m. in the attic of a home in the 17000 block of Foster Road.

The home was situated up a long driveway, overgrown with vegetation that was inaccessible to fire engines.

Once firefighters arrived they found the working fire in the attic of the home.

The elderly resident managed to escape without any injuries.

While crews were working the attic fire, a small vegetation fire started behind the home between Foster Road and Highland Terrace.

The fire was quickly contained.

Fire officials say weather contributed to the quick containment of the vegetation fire. In hotter, drier weather conditions the fire had the potential to spread to nearby homes.
