Fremont police host 5K walk/run supporting Special Olympics

Special Olympic athlete talks about 5K walk/run in Fremont

People hit the pavement Saturday morning to support athletes in the Special Olympics.

The Fremont Police Department hosts the ‘Fremont Guardians Unite 5K’ that kicked off at 8 a.m. at Quarry Lakes, 2100 Isherwood Way.  

Along the course are inspirational quotes, milestone markers and Special Olympic athletes who will be giving high fives to runners. 

KRON4’s Christina Tetreault spoke to a Special Olympic medalists Diane Spane, Steve Sims and their coach Tom Novello, along with Yanneth Contrada with the police department.
