Missing 11-year-old boy found safe in Hayward

UPDATE: The missing 11-year-old boy was found safe near Southland Mall, according to the Hayward Police Department. 


HAYWARD (KRON) -- The Hayward Police Department is searching for an 11-year-old boy who they say left school before dismissal today. 

The child, Ja'quory Sturns-Evans, was last seen by himself on the 26000 block of Eldridge Avenue. 

He's described as a black male, about 4-feet tall and weighing about 80 pounds. Police say he has black hair, worn in a fade haircut style and brown eyes. 

Police say he was last seen wearing a black Nike hooded sweatshirt with gold writing, a gray/blue shirt, gray pants and red Air Jordan shoes. 

The boy also has a blue backpack with green straps.

Those with information on his whereabouts are asked to contact Hayward Police at (510) 293-7000.
