Bay Area

ANTIOCH (KRON) — Firefighters in Contra Costa County are warning against the dangers of illegal fireworks after the explosives caused a grass and house fire Saturday afternoon.

The fire was first reported on Twitter by the fire department around 2:45 p.m.

The 2-alarm fire damaged one home on the 1300 block of Trembath Lane in Antioch, according to the fire department.

The Contra Costa Fire Protection District says the fire began as a vegetation fire and then spread to a home and shed.

In a tweet, the fire department reminded residents that fireworks are illegal in Contra Costa County.
