PETALUMA (KRON) - The Petaluma Police Department has arrested a man for starting a fight with one man, then biting off another victims finger who was trying to restrain the suspect at a local nightclub Saturday night.
Around 11:44 p.m. police arrived at 23 Petaluma Boulevard North to find the suspect who was being detained by bystanders and staff, and seemed to be intoxicated.
The suspect has been identified as 34-year-old Daniel Yurkovich from Pacific Grove.
Police then detained Yurkovich without incident.
Officials say that when they got to the nightclub, they confirmed the 'near-amputation' of the 32-year-old man's finger who was being taken to the hospital.
The victim's name has not been released.
Before the fight broke out, police say Yurkovich caught others attention because of his odd behavior.
Police say he then approached a random person and began attacking him.
Yurkovich was on top of the victim and punching him when others tried to pull him off, authorities say.
One of the men who attempted to restrain Yurkovich was then attacked which led to the man getting his finger bitten off.
The entire incident was caught on surveillance footage.
Yurkovich has been booked into the Sonoma County Jail for the crime of mayhem.
The victim was taken to the hospital with attempts to save his finger, however, the police were unable to find the person that Yurkovich originally began fighting with.
