Oakland Unified School District to vote on closure of Roots International Academy

Bay Area

The Oakland Unified School District could decide on Monday to close Roots International Academy.

The possible move means 150 current 6th and 7th graders would have to go to another school next year.

The district says it will work with families to place kids in the right school.

This comes as the district is facing a $30 million deficit.

It could close as many as 24 schools in the next few years.
