SAN JOSE, Calif. (KRON) – A carjacking suspect has died following a police shooting in San Jose on Wednesday, according to the San Jose Police Department.
San Jose police were at the scene of a police shooting in the area of Hedding St. and Park Ave.
The shooting involved a carjacking suspect, police say.
Authorities say the adult man was driving a stolen car and attempted a carjacking in Santa Clara.
The suspect, who was armed with a gun, was not able to take the car, police say.
Officers say he was driving in the original stolen car back to San Jose when he caused a major accident at the intersection. Other drivers received minor to moderate injuries.
When police arrived, they say the suspect began shooting at officers, who then fired back.
The suspect was hit at least one time and was taken to a hospital where he later died.
The police officers involved were not injured.
The streets in the area are currently closed due to the investigation.
