(BCN) — The National Weather Service has issued a high surf advisory until 3 p.m. Sunday.

Strong offshore winds are driving swells that have the potential of producing waves between 18 and 22 feet. The advisory covers all coastal areas, from the North Bay, including Point Reyes National Seashore, to San Francisco and south to Big Sur.

Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions are expected, and inexperienced swimmers should not go in the water. Winds have also been blowing strong onshore.

Overnight gusts reached 43 to 72 mph at Mount St. Helena north of Santa Rosa but are expected to decrease gradually by Sunday afternoon, the NWS said, with a potential to increase again Sunday night.
