(KRON) — A plane crashed into the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Half Moon Bay and left two people dead, the National Transportation Safety Board confirmed to KRON4.

The United States Coast Guard was the first to locate the submerged plane, the NTSB confirmed. The pilot and copilot suffered fatal injuries in the crash.
The plane involved was a Viking Air DHC-6-400 Twin Otter, the NTSB said. The plane crashed into the Pacific Ocean about 40 miles off the Northern California coast around 2:15 p.m.

No other passengers were on the plane at the time of the crash. The plane was flying from Santa Rosa to Honolulu, Hawaii, the Federal Aviation Administration tells KRON4. NTSB is attempting to recover the plane.
