LAFAYETTE, Calif. (KRON) — Police activity shut down a road earlier Wednesday afternoon due to a body that was found in Lafayette.

Both directions on Taylor Boulevard, between Withers Avenue and Grayson Road, were closed for a few hours but have now reopened, according to KRON4’s Dan Thorn who is at the scene.

Around 1:06 p.m., sheriff’s from the Muir Station arrived in the area of Taylor and Gloria Terrace following reports of a shooting.

Officials say bystanders were providing lifesaving measures to the victim on the ground.

The victim appeared to have a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead on the scene.

His identity has not been determined at this time.

Authorities did not say how the body ended up in the road.

For reference, the location of where the body was found is roughly one mile away from Dinosaur Hill Park.

Police said this is not an active incident, and there is no threat to the public.

Authorities continue to investigate at this time. A suspect has not been located at this time.
