Officer, suspect injured in San Jose officer-involved shooting

SAN JOSE (KRON) – Police in San Jose are investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened Saturday morning.

Around 7:16 a.m., authorities arrived at an Arco gas station at 2375 Quimby Road following reports of a suspicious incident.

Officers say they found an uncooperative man trying to light paper in the gas pump nozzle.

Police say the suspect, described as a Hispanic adult man, charged at the officers with a metal bar.

Less lethal options were used on the suspect multiple times but did not work. This is when officers fired their guns.

Authorities say an officer was treated for a minor injury at the hospital but has since been released.

The suspect was also injured and remains in stable condition at the hospital.

The San Jose Police Department said the body cameras were activated at the scene.

The officers involved will be placed on paid administrative leave.

The district attorney’s office and police department are working together on a criminal investigation.
