Police: Suspect arrested in Milpitas for shattering car windows with brick

Police in Milpitas have arrested a man for shattering windows of multiple cars with a brick. 

On Saturday morning around 7:33 a.m., authorities received a call from a resident saying that a man threw a brick into their car window near the 200 block of North Hillview Drive. 

The resident told officials that the incident was caught on their home surveillance camera and gave a suspect description based on the footage.

Police arrived minutes later to find the suspect, identified as 23-year-old Lazarus Jacob Garcia from San Jose, along with four other cars with broken windows and car damage. 

Officials say about $3,000 in damages were caused. 

Authorities found that Garcia was on probation in Santa Clara County for carjacking. 

Police say that Garcia was booked into the Santa Clara County main jail for felony vandalism, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, being under the influence of a controlled substance, and a probation violation.

The police department says thank you to the residents for being aware and keeping the community safe.
