PIEDMONT, Calif. (KRON) — Piedmont Police responded to multiple calls reporting shots fired and a man down in the street on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Piedmont Police Department. PPD learned that an altercation turned into a shooting and one person was shot in the wrist.

The department said the incident was reported in the area of Boulevard Way and Crofton Avenue at about 4 p.m.

According to police, two people were involved in a physical altercation when the suspect pulled out a handgun and shot the victim in the right wrist. The 30-year-old victim was taken to a hospital by the Piedmont Fire Department.

The suspect was described as an African-American man in his mid-20s who stands 5-foot-6 with a thin build. He was wearing a white sweatshirt and gray sweatpants. He was traveling in a car described as a dark red early 2000s sedan.
