(BCN) — Storm-related impacts such as trees falling on power lines have knocked out power to over 18,000 customers around the Bay Area on Wednesday morning, according to the latest numbers from PG&E.
As of 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, there were:
- 3 in San Francisco
- 2,215 on the Peninsula
- 1,416 in the North Bay
- 261 in the East Bay
- 14,900 in the South Bay
- 18,795 total in the Bay Area
PG&E has mobilized its largest storm response effort in history to deal with the effects of the storm, according to PG&E spokesperson JD Guidi. In San Jose’s Willow Glen neighborhood, the utility is still working to restore power to thousands.
As of Wednesday morning, many of the power lines in the neighborhood are still dangling. The storm also knocked down distribution poles that caused a chain reaction, ultimately taking down transmission towers.
Businesses as well as homes are without power in the area. At this time, there is no estimated timeframe from PG&E as to when they will be able to restore power to everyone.
