In today’s edition of Rob Black’s Winners and Losers, our financial expert Rob Black and KRON4’s James Fletcher talk about investing ideas for elections, antitrust violations, and free holiday shipping at Amazon.
Rob also answers the viewer question, “What is happening to Apple stock?”
Investing ideas for elections: Buy the dollar but sell FAANGs, buy real estate and machinery, but sell the overall market. Or, do nothing at all. Investors heading into Tuesday’s U.S. congressional elections are trying to fathom how best to predict the outcome and profit from it.
Antitrust violations: President Donald Trump says his administration is looking into antitrust violations by Amazon, Facebook and Google parent Alphabet. In an interview with Axios, Trump says he’s “not looking to hurt” the U.S. tech giants but is considering action.
Free shipping at Amazon: The move heats up the competition with Walmart and other rivals vying for customers’ Christmas shopping sprees. The U.S.-only promotion, effective from Nov. 5, waives the $25 minimum that customers outside Amazon’s loyalty club Prime must hit for free shipping. The deal lasts until Amazon can no longer promise items in time for Christmas with free delivery, which typically takes 5 to 8 business days.
