Shooting shuts down westbound I-80 in Contra Costa County

HERCULES (KRON)- - California Highway Patrol is investigating a shooting that occurred on Interstate 80 Sunday night in Contra Costa County. 

Authorities say gunfire rang out around 6:18 p.m. on westbound I-80 between Pinole Valley Road and Appian Way. 

Responding officers found a man suffering from serious but non-life threatening injuries and transported to John Muir Hospital. 

The victim was the only occupant in his vehicle. 

Westbound I-80 was shut down between Cummings Skyway and Appian Way for some time but reopened by 9:25 p.m.
