HERCULES (KRON) — In just one night, several cars parked in two quiet areas of Hercules are targeted by thieves. Police say on May 17, burglars hit nine different cars in the areas of Foxboro and Victoria Crescent West.
“I think they hit as many cars as they can and hope they get as much as they can in a small period of time and they’re looking for anything of value generally laptops ipads iphones things of that nature,” said Hercules Officer Connie Van Putten.
Van Putten says in some cases the burglars ended up stealing nothing.
A silver Honda Pilot parked on dover in the Foxboro Downs Apartments had two windows broken. But nothing inside was missing, it was one of a few cars found vandalized in the complex.
Police say a duffle bag was also taken out of a burglarized car on Maritime Terrace.
That vehicle was one of three on the same block to have their windows smashed in and everything inside thrown around. Cars on nearby Ebbtide Cove and Hidden Cove suffered the same fate.
Police say they have increased patrols in those neighbors.
But in a smaller area like hercules Officer Van Putten says neighbors can be the eyes and ears to help stop these crimes.
“One of the things we’re asking the public to do is to look at their surveillance video during that period of time to see if they see anything suspicious,” she said. “Any people or vehicles that seem to be kinda roaming in the area or suspicious and we would like to hear from them.”
