Police arrested a 16-year-old boy accused of creating a fake Instagram account and posting threats online directed at American Canyon High School.

According to police, the suspect allegedly posted a photo of a boy with a gun, which was later determined by officials to be an internet file photo from an incident in another country.

Authorities say the suspect demonstrated familiarity with the American Canyon High School campus and building layouts.

A search warrant was executed at the suspect’s home in American Canyon on Saturday, and while no weapons were located, authorities did seize evidence that linked the teen to the social media threats.

The suspect, whose name has not been released, has been booked into Napa County Juvenile Hall for criminal threats.

Police say tips from the community and support from the Napa Valley Unified School District contributed greatly to the closure of the investigation.
