U.C. Berkeley is partnering with esports organizations, the San Francisco Shock and NRG eSports, to launch a new esports community center on campus.
The center will serve as an esports arena as well as a campus hub for mixers and Ted-style talks for gamers.
Cal’s esports team recently won for its second consecutive title at the Overwatch Collegiate Championships.
It’s the latest expansion of the university’s esports program, which may decide to join other schools in offering scholarships for e-athletes at some point in the future.
